TEN THOUSAND MILES
МЯНГАН БЭЭР
ХОЛЫН АЯЛАЛ
THE NAME
Ten thousand miles is the distance between your door and the far side of the steppe, мянган бээр in the old Mongolian count, холын аялал: the long journey. Everything WANLI makes is designed for that span: bought at the start of a journey, worn hard in the middle of it, kept long after it ends.
THE WORKSHOP
Mongolia grows a third of the world's cashmere, and nearly all of it leaves the country raw. Ours does not. The fibre is combed in spring, then washed, spun, dyed and knitted in Ulaanbaatar by Gallop Premium Cashmere, the family workshop behind WANLI. What flies out is a finished garment. In this industry, that is rarer than it sounds.
THE TRAVELLER
WANLI exists because travellers kept leaving Mongolia with souvenirs instead of things. You cannot pack the light on the grassland, but you can carry what it made: the layer you wore at the camp, the blanket from the night the stove went out. Years later, on an ordinary morning at home, the coat still says: you were there.
THE TWO HOUSES
WANLI is built by two houses. Gallop Premium Cashmere LLC in Ulaanbaatar owns the brand and makes every piece. Wanli International Limited in Hong Kong carries it to the world. Between them sits a simple rule: the making never leaves Mongolia, and the journey never stops at the border.
THE NEXT TEN THOUSAND MILES
The line grows the way a journey does. After the knits and the outerwear come the travel gear, the footwear for the lodge, the amenities for partner hotels and camps across Mongolia. Wherever the road reaches next, the standard travels with it: made in Mongolia, made to last, repaired rather than replaced.

About WANLI
Where WANLI stands
There is a gap in the world of things. On one side, outdoor brands that work superbly and say nothing. On the other, fashion houses that say everything and fall apart on the first bad trail. WANLI was built in the gap: clothing and objects with the manners of contemporary fashion and the constitution of expedition gear, made from the fibres of the coldest inhabited steppe on earth.
Mongolia is not our marketing. It is our engineering. Cashmere exists because winter here reaches forty below; yak down exists because the plateau is higher and colder still; felt exists because a house on the steppe has to be warm, light and movable. Every material we use was invented by this landscape long before it was fashionable anywhere else. We just refuse to ship it out raw.
What we hold to
The journey is the point. We design for the road: things that pack small, work hard in bad weather, and still look right at dinner. If a piece only makes sense in a city or only makes sense at a camp, it is not finished.
Materials belong to a place. Our fibre is combed, never shorn, from animals that live outdoors all year, and it is spun, dyed and knitted in Mongolia by Gallop Premium Cashmere, the family workshop behind the brand. What leaves the country is a finished thing, not a commodity.
Fewer, better, repaired. We would rather make one excellent colour than five approximate ones. Outerwear carries lifetime repair. When a piece wears, we mend it; we do not replace it.
Culture is not decoration. The rider on our emblem, the crossed straps of the Bökh Boot, the sun of the HUNNU Carpet: these are working details drawn from a living culture, used with respect and restraint. You will not find a pattern on a WANLI piece that does not know where it came from.
Not a souvenir
We do not ask you to buy something because it is Mongolian. We ask you to buy it because it is the best version of that thing you can find, and then we tell you, quietly, that its origin is the reason why. Product first. The culture is in the construction.
One percent of every sale returns to the herder communities the fibre comes from. The steppe is not our supplier. It is our home.
